Biography

Juan Fernandez is a systems technician at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University. He received his bachelor’s in information science from Northeastern. Since graduating, he has worked as a technician and research assistant at Northeastern.

Fernandez’s main role includes ensuring a technically functional research environment for professors at Khoury College. This involves a variety of tasks, including programming, developing systems for research, and maintaining research projects out in the field. As a technician, every day has different challenges to overcome, but he loves the opportunity to explore and learn new sides of computer development, research methods, and technical expertise. Fernandez became interested in computer science from a young age because his father loves setting up and tinkering with computers. In high school, Fernandez took a course on computer programming and loved it, which led him to pursue computer science at Northeastern.

He is most excited by Khoury College’s research on robotics and emotion sensors. He believes this interesting area has great potential in the future, particularly in the medical field.

Fernandez was born in Spain but has spent most of his life living in East Boston.
